see here attached zip file
two routes from Esch-sur-Sre:
1. following the Mosel and then up into the Hunsrck Hills, down to the Rhine, ferry crossing and then through the Taunus down to the hotel
2. avoiding the Mosel, going through Hunsrck, very low traffic there, a little bit of River Nahe, down to the Rhine, cross the river by ferr, down to the hotel

:0461: ...  :028: looked at the routes last night and initial thoughts (only based on Garmin Basecamp view) ... the Mosel route looked more twisty but then there was the comment from Uli to consider that the Rhine route is probably less traffic. :084:
Also owned my 1979 Bonnie T140E from new!

Wouldn't call the Mosel route twisty, no sharp bends really. It's perfect for cruising, the views are spectacular, you'll see the steepest vineyard in Europe (Bremmer Calmont) and otheor famous vineyards where the Romans started to grow wine. Depending on the weather it can get crowded especially with tourists from the Netherlands and Belgium.

The alternative route takes you on minor roads down to Bingen to cross the Rhine, some vineyards to see. I included a little loop to take you round Rotenfels highest rock wall north of the Alps with vineyards around.

I have avoided motorways only the last bit of 25 kms on both routes is four lanes
