Try Helmsley to Whitby via Hutton le Hole and Rosedale Abbey -- not a long run but interesting .
If the truth fits -- wear it !!!!

Gainsborough old Hall, is well worth a visit, even if Gainsborough itself isn't!
It was the Viking capital at one time, Henry VIII stayed there and links to the Pilgrim fathers to mention a few. The Lincolnshire wolds are close by and Lincoln is a treasure trove of history.   From time to time RAF Scampton allow visits to Guy Gibson's office too!  ....and I'm not even a native Yellowbelly

Thanks everyone, with your suggestions and my riding pals requests for Banburgh Castle and that village where Heartbeat was filmed we're set for places to see and roads to ride up until the last day which is Cromer in Norfolk back to North Oxfordshire.

Any ideas on where to get off for a wander as I've only been out that way on family holidays taking the direct route in a car.

A decent route is Cromer-Holt-Swaffham-Brandon then presumably pick up the A14/A428 etc? There's Castle Acre you could visit, and Swaffham has a nice centre to stop at, but Gawd knows if you can get a coffee now.

Coddy, put a note somewhere on the forum, or PM me if and/or when you plan on getting to Cromer; Ill try and arrange a bimble and meet up with you; Ill even buy the coffees.
Following on from Healdem, look at the Yorkshire MegaMeet route, we stopped for coffee in Goathland (Heartbeats Aidensfield) during the Saturday blast through the York Moors.
Cheers
Geoff

Hawes is worth a visit, especially if you like cheese (the creamery there sells smashing Wensleydale, Gromit). Plus the Ribbleshead Viaduct is a few miles up a quite entertaining road from there.
