Question Answered
« on: June 30, 2020, 07:44:53 PM »
Now then,

My front is in need of changing as its coming to the end of its life. The rear is OK. After speaking to some folks and reading the comments (of which there are many) regarding the best tires etc I've opted to look at Metzelers Roadtec 01 or Michelin Road 5's. So emails have been sent to a couple of places for best price supplied and fitted.

I was concerned about going away from stock, changing front size and mixing brands. After reading a number of threads I've decided to change both, but will keep the rear for emergency spare should the need arise.

Will be fitting -
110/80 19
150/70 17

The reviews etc seem equally complementary so it will come down to price.

Cheers for advice and i found this thread particularly useful -  https://www.tiger800.co.uk/index.php/topic,26669.msg291715.html#msg291715

Will keep ya updated for final fitting and thoughts

Cheers again

Hi, a change to either of the tyres listed will be a HUGE improvement on the OE tyres.

I run the R5's on my XRX, a TOMCC friend runs the "01's" , both very good. I will be changing to the "01's" on another bike I own to see how they perform..
enjoy anyway....

Just changing mine now.
In the sizes you mentioned ;
01's 273
PR5's 243 - 30 cashback = 213
Avon Trailriders 200

All prices per pair, fitted to loose wheels at National Tyres (not available on the Internet. Beware of the copy site also called National)

Hope this helps.

Looks a good price.

I've booked in with SPS on Barnsley Rd next week.

Going for Michelin Road 5s fitted to bike 233 after the 30 offer.

Will let you know my thoughts

Now then,

Got the Michelin 5 trail fitted. Look good and felt immediately different. Only covered about 30 miles but happy so far. Lad at garage sung there praises too, interestingly stated that you can repair Michelin's but not the Metzelers. Not sure how true this is.. any thoughts?

Need to get more miles done now will be out in next day or two.

Obligatory new Tyre pics
