New Owner in the Chicago Area
« on: July 12, 2020, 11:16:22 AM »
I have been lurking here for the last two years, started when I realized I needed to go to a lighter bike.

I am a senior citizen, actually 67 this week.  I have been riding since I was 15.  I rode Honda motorcycles most of my life.  A number of years ago I bit the bullet and bought a HD Electra Glide which I rode for a few years.  It did not do anything for me.

I test rode a 2013 Triumph Trophy SE and immediately fell in love.  We spent a lot of miles together.  A couple years later I added to the garage with a 2015 Explorer XC (1215) which was another great bike. I just love that three cylinder 1215.  Unfortunately, age and my lack of time in the gym has required that I move to lighter motorcycles.  So the two 1215s had to go.

I now have a 2018 Bonneville T120 which is great for around town but does not have the road comfort that either the Trophy or Explorer had.  This week I picked up a 2016 Tiger XRT with only 750 miles on it.  It is in perfect condition.  I hope it is more "long" road worthy than the Bonneville.

I was spoiled by the shaft drives on the Trophy and Explorer but the Bonneville is getting me used to getting on the ground for chain maintenance.

I have enjoyed the forums for the Trophy and Explorer and watching this one for the last two years, I appreciate the wealth of knowledge and experience available to share.

Oh yeah, and if you are wondering about my avatar, yes, I did fly A-10 Warthogs, back when they still had that new airplane smell.

I hope to see you on the road.

Ride Safe,

ZShyster

Welcome aboard, 'ZShyster' -- I think you'll find that the T800 will be quite "long" road worthy?
Especially if you choose the "good" roads (at least that's been my observation).
As to the 'senior' & 'hog-driver' comments: yers truly sailed the seas in diesel subs.
There are a terrible lot of lies going about the world, and the worst of it is that half of them are true.

Thanks for the Welcome.

I look forward to asking a lot of questions as I get to know this new bike.

Ride Safe.
