Hi everyone
« on: July 19, 2020, 01:30:25 PM »
Hello guys,

My name's Ricardo Vieira and I'm from Portugal.

I'm an happy owner of a Triumph Tiger 800 for the last 9 years. I've bought new and now it has 87000km more or less.

I did a few travellings with this motorcycle, my longest one I drove it from Portugal to Poland.

Yes, I had a few problems with this bike. After three years and 30000km with the bike, I was the first in Portugal to have problems with the stepper motor. No one could fix the bike, because they didn't know what it was, and Triumph told it was my fault because I did the maintenance by myself, because I'm no mechanic. Sure I'm not a mechanic, but changing oil and oil filter and stuff like that, it's not that difficult. Even so, I start blaming myself because of the problem. Did a research and found a lot of people with the same problem. So it was not my fault. I read a lot about the subject and put my hands to work. Guess what, I did what the mechanic could not, but I'm no mechanic. I've paid to Triumph to put the bike in the computer, paid to check de valves, paid to change some voltage to the accelerator and nothing worked, and for free and with the help of others over the internet I did it.
Than I had problems with the spring in the gearbox, as other. Later had problems because the spring was to hard and broke some metal part in the gearbox, like others.
Now I have a problem with the oil pressure like a few ones over the world. Still trying to figure it out what it is.

Anyway, I love this bike, it's more comfortable that I was expecting. Did dome long touring with it, like 990km, and never felt pain in my body, but I believe you all know that.

Well, sorry for the long text.

See you guys

Thank you. Yes, it's true, 8 years later  :006: Actually I've found this forum searching for the stepper motor failure. From time to time I come here to see if someone has the same problems has me. But, I rarely use the computer, so it's hard for me to visit the forum. Anyway, I've decided to say "Hi" and try to participate as much as I can.

By the way, is there any app for android to read messages from this forum?

"Correction"... not searching for the stepper motor failure... but searching for a side stand failure.
