Brembo vs EBC brake pads any advice
« on: July 26, 2020, 09:43:48 PM »
I did a muscled 2 up alpine pass and going down I was a bit scared sometimes, the braking is
okay but initial bite not good enough, especially compared to my Yami, needed to anticipate a
bit too much for my taste.

I can either source the EBC double H sintered pads, that I've seen advised by many here, but
the Brembo are half the price of the EBC in Switzerland, these would be Brembo 07BB04SA,
anyone had a chance to compare or use the Brembos !?

I'm using the Brembo pads, definitely an improvement in bite over the originals but not a huge one; got more benefit from caliper and piston servicing. Haven't tried EBC.

Good the Brembo were finally the only ones I managed to source, for a quarter of the price of
other brands.
Thanks for the feedback !

Unfortunately, EBC is now distributed by a shop who only sells them to dealerships, I can't buy them
without paying 2x the price, so to hell with that.
2 pairs of EBC would have cost me 130 without shipping, the 2 brembo pairs were 45, insane !

Since the Brembo aren't bad, at least not 3 times worse than EBC, didn't feel to pay premium.

Strange that there is such a huge price difference. Anyway, new pads of any make always feel better.

Welcome to Switzerland, most things we buy are imported and there's a shitload of intermediaries
often, which means pricy, the brembos I buy in a great Italian shop I use often, so direct to me !

Like when I serviced my Honda, prices of air and oil filters, were 2-3x those in USA and even the rest
of Europe...

We're supposed to be a rich country, but these prices are ridiculous !

I swapped mine today to EBC HH. Good improvement.

The stock pads were brembo, though I assume organic?

Biggest improvement I made to my brake was bleeding with the left callipers off, to get air out of the link. From factory the brake feel real spongy (as does the 900), but one I did this, made lever much firmer.

Did this again today, with new pads, its a noticeable improemfent in bit and power.

Can't you buy the EBC online from elsewhere?
Tiger 800 XRx, Bonneville T120 Black, SpeedTona, Speed Dent
Gone but not forgotten: Scrambler 900, Tiger 1050, Bonneville SE, Sprint ST 955i, Trophy 4, Sprint 900, Daytona 900, Tiger 900, Trident 900

Found them in UK yes, but with exchange rates and shipping, it was again much more expensive than the Italian shop, almost the Swiss price.
I'm not buying from US anymore as last shipment I got, took a month to arrive with the terrible situation there.

As said I'm hopping the current ones are organic and the Brembo sintered will be quite the improvement.
