right... still guess I am too thick to see the point, I use those rails to fix luggage etc. when using a topcase, last week I transported fork parts for swmbo's Ducati on the back of the Tiger, was happy the rails were there as those parts lay on the rails quite solid

My Girlfriend pillion hated the grab rails so I removed them by sawing a second hand pair up to acheve the same effect.
I then had to mount a rack and rear grab handle so she was happy to go any distance.
The originals dug in and got bumped when getting on and off the bike.

I took them off my Tiger 1050 as I had enough of a job getting on and off, and I kept catching my foot on them. Don't seem to have the same issue with the 800.
