ANOTHER ONE FFS
« on: August 20, 2020, 11:52:19 AM »
Started wheeling bike out.
Seems a bit sticky. Did I leave something in front of the back wheel?
Nope.
No fkn air in the rear tyre. (always  the rear eh?!?!)

Picked up a nail last night.

Choices. Plug n go, professional plug, new tyre.

DIY plug/sticky string. Good to go.

Unscrew as if a screw 'cause you don't know it's not a screw and no need to cause further damage.

New tire, why play Russian Roulette. You only have two wheels and your life might depend on whether the plug holds or not on one of them. Tires are not the place to cheapen out. :125:

There's nothing wrong with repairing the tyre in that location. If you're worried about sticky string then go mushroom. Follow instructions and there's no issue. I've repaired punctures in New tyres on various bikes and never had an issue. Really worried take to a shop for a "pro" repair.

agree on a "Stop & Go" mushroom plug repair - it's straight-forward and if done properly you can safely ride with the tyre - have done that on a R1200R with Roadtec 01 rear and used it for 3k kms with no abnormal loss of pressure

The front picks it up and fires it at the rear tyre, hence the rear is more likely as screws and nail are usually laying flat

Indeed.  Especially if you take a pillion. Not worth it in my book.

All the brave boys who said they had no problem with plugged tires are the lucky ones. The guys who weren't so fortunate aren't here to say otherwise.
