Hi there. I've just bought a Tiger 800 and it is a bit of a puzzle bike. Don't get me wrong it runs alright and will look OK after some TLC.
But there is a question about whether it's a standard 800 or an XC in disguise. It was registered in late 2011 and a dealer (not who I bought it from)
says it's a 2012 model because it has a black, not silver frame. Also it has a cartridge strapped to the left frame member with oil in it that is connected to the top of the rear shock and I think this is not an original fitment.
Someone has also fitted, rather badly, a beak to the front. It has cast wheels back and front.

Has anyone any ideas as to what has been done to this bike please?

There are about a million questions to follow........
'38 Triumph 250 single, '55 Tiger cub, more BSA Bantams than you can shake a stick at. '53 BSA A10, '66 Dunstall Norton 750 Atlas, 40 year break, MT07, R3, 650 Burgman, Bonnie America 865, 700 Deauville, Tiger 800. Phew!

Welcome to the forum Arianta. As far as the frame color; Triumph changed the chassis color in mid 2011 from silver to black, so your bike could be 2011 produced after the initial batch of silver chassis bikes.
Enjoy your new acquisition and be safe. :417:

Hi there Arianta
and welcome to the best Tiger forum in the world, everything you have asked about is on here you just gotta find it, I would hazard a guess that your bike is originally a roadie, anad dressed up as a XC to up the price.

Good morning (or whatever, wherever you are). Thanks for the welcome and I look forward to finding out exactly what my bike is! I'm really curious about the rear suspension because I'm a short-*/se and I have fitted different dog bones and raised the front forks in the triple clamps as well. Still finding it a little tall. I looked at a new 900  with a view to getting the low version but the bank manager -he say NO!
