New member - Hello from Lincolnshire !
« on: September 29, 2020, 12:10:24 AM »
Hello All - I'm new to this forum (and forums in general because I'm a bit of a technophobe !..) I'm primarily a classic bike fan and I use a more modern bike as my daily rider and for pleasure riding too when I can't be bothered to get something older out of the garage. I ride every day, all year round and I've just bought a 2013 Tiger 800 XC ABS after having a 1996 BMW R850R for four years. I only took delivery of the Tiger a week ago but I've done a couple of hundred miles on it and I really like it (don't love it yet but I think that will come..) The Tiger is my first 'Multi' (only had twins and singles before this) and I confess I was a little worried by the seat height but it seems fine when on the move although a bit problematic when stopped at the lights etc.. due to my short inside leg so I might lower it a bit and probably get a better (and bigger) screen ! - One strange phenomenon I've noticed when out and about on the Tiger, most other riders seem reluctant to give me a nod or even ignore me altogether ! When I'm out on another bike (even the BMW) everybody seems keen enough to return my nods, is this some sort of adventure bike thing ?..

Hi and :401:

No, there's no issue with Tigers or Adventure bikes in my experience. I've just got back from riding in the Lake District, North Pennines, Yorkshire Dales and over into Scotland and through Keilder Forrest and 90% of all passing bikes acknowledged. I barely saw any HDs and usual 'ignoring you' HD owners but noticed that unusually it was mainly BMW riders on brand new GS type bikes who were the main grumpy ones which I thought unusual. Maybe this virus is screwing with a lot of people subconsciously?
Also owned my 1979 Bonnie T140E from new!

Hello and welcome poacher 67.
I've had my '13 XC from new and after 70,000 miles still impressed by it's abilities. I'm a bit of a short arse  and was uncomfortable coming to a halt on top toes, so lowered it and what a transformation in confidence!  Also, keep an eye out on here for Madstad screens,  which are brilliant at reflecting wind/ noise and making a comfortable ride.
Finally, it might be worth thinking of visiting the missing Lincs Triumph owners meetings at Bardney railway preservation site. Good bunch and excellent fish and chips!!!
(Though tbh I let my membership lapse so haven't been for a while, but you'll get a warm welcome)
