Indicator stalk snapped - fix
« on: September 30, 2020, 11:22:06 AM »

After 8 years - 1 of my front indicator stalks finally gave up & snapped yesterday .
Not bad as this was flagged a defect in 2012 !

New stalk only required - so stronger part ( link below ) ordered & quite an easy fix - just panels and beak off no wiring.
Don't buy a new indicator - as its 40

But how do you remove and refit the cables without first having to cut the connectors off, as they will not pass through the central hole without doing so?

fitted these Chinese LED ones front & back - as you can see from the top pic, I was snapping indicators off on every ride and literally didn't have any more room to add yet another cable tie and some tape to repair the stalks - the new ones are safely out of harms way and were a simple plug-n-play process

Remove the Beak & 2 side panels  - see Muddy sump video tank removal.
Disconnect & remove indicator.
Remove clear lens - tiny Philips screwdriver required.
Pop out reflector and bulb housing from indicator shell.
Disconnect 2 wires - black offside , white inside.
The cable with these 2 small flat connectors will fit through the indicator and stalk hole.
Fit new stalk & re-assemble.

See photo as just fitted today

Good as new  for 4.95, and don't go down that path of aftermarket tat  :001:

Good to know that the wires will pass through the replacements stalk and that you do not have to cut and re-connect the connectors.
