Tiger 900 GT Pro Stalling when clutch pulled in
« on: October 14, 2020, 01:14:12 AM »
Hi Tiger Community. I read with interest the thread on the Tiger 800 with a similar problem and wonder if anyone else in the 900 GT Pro group has experienced the same issue. Pulling in the clutch while down shifting through the lower gears and then, silence. The engine stalls. It was happening frequently when the bike had less than 300 mile on the odometer. My Triumph dealer performed an update and I have not had a single problem since. However, yesterday it  happened again. I have only experienced this re-occurrence one time so far; current odometer is 1750 miles.  Is it possible another update is required? The bike is only a few months old. How many update can it need?!

Does it restart right away ???

If so it may be a problem with the side stand switch  :027: :027:

Could be a TPS problem or stepper motor problem perhaps. In answer to your question, if your bike needs an update it only needs it once, so provided the update was loaded correctly there should be no need to do it again. The issue with the 800, if my memory serves me, was with early gen 3 2015 models (ie 2014 build) and was fuel pump related. I doubt thats your problem, although an individual fuel pump fault cant be ruled out either.

Yes it starts  immediately. The kickstand switch was inspected on the first occurrence and was OK. No further issues in the past 300 miles.  I will ask the mechanic in regard to fuel pump,TPS, stepper. Good place to start.
thanks

The problem you describe is exactly what happened on my 2018XCX when new-ish. Others on the forum have also reported the problem.

There are a few suggested remedies, but I don't believe the true  cause has ever been discovered and corrected by Triumph.

On the bright side, I have not had any re-occurance on mine after around 10k km.

The previous 800 stalling issues sound exactly the same. I have an appointment for the dealer to run a computer diagnostic. Not really expecting any new information, but at least starting a maintenance history...just in case it persists.

:465: Good, let us know what you find out when you take it to the dealers. Many would be interested. Thanks.
