I've been using a Mefo Explorer front with a Mitas E07 rear for years. IMHO they're superb and cheap compared to other stuff like the Tractionators. A set for 130? What's not to like? And the bonus is that a set will last 10K miles because the rear is dual compound so it resists squaring off.

Thanks, I'm tempted to go for the E07 for the front actually as its only 53 on amazon. I noticed that the Mefo Explorer needs a tube. Does that come with the tyre? What made you choose the tubeless for the back and Tube for front? I havent even thought about these options.

I have an XC so the front is a 21" and yes, needs a tube. I have a "roadie" cast wheel in the rear so it's a tubeless tyre on there. I did this because the vast majority of punctures occur in the rear and tubeless allows "plug and go" repairs.
The Mefo front has a deeper tread than the Mitas front which is better for dirt tracks. It is also amazing in the grip it gives on the tarmac roads. It's 1000% better than it looks.
