2015 led indicators
« on: November 11, 2020, 08:45:36 PM »
Hi guys Ive been searching the forum on a Definitive solution to installing led indicators  on a 2015 tiger Xcx (which has no flasher relay its controlled by the clocks or ecu 🤷🏻‍♂️)as to how to solve the hyper flashing (i want to retain the auto cancel feature and hazard function )and theres so much conflicting info
Im thinking resistors but what definite resistance value resistor and how many I need and has anyone here had success  ?  or maybe a link to some one whos successfully achieved this

I haven't done it myself but it has certainly been covered numerous times here over the years ... the 'search' facility is your friend.  :002:
Also owned my 1979 Bonnie T140E from new!

Tried that.. 🙁 some say one resistor per side others say one for each indicator some said go try pin 7 and 8 on the alarm plug which just seemed to be about hazards ..    No one mentions definitely what value resistors or how many is needed  ..different bikes have different stock bulb resistances..on line sites like Amazon and eBay sell a wide variety between 6 8 and 10 ohms with wattages from 10w 21w 50w I havent purchased anything yet til I know what to buy or even if I can get it to work at all 😩

I used one resistor per side on my 2017 xrx. These are the ones I got, they are more compact than the others on the market:

All the functions are working perfectly. Let us know how it works out for you. By the way, I installed/fitted the transistors on the inside panel where the front directionals are located.

Fantastic Ive just ordered everything so itll take a week or thereabouts for everything to arrive looking forward to a hassle free install  :173: Ill test fit everything first and all going well Im toying with mounting the front ones high level on the plastics near the headlamp dont think theyll mount squarely looking at it here in the shed but well see might have to modify the stalk and if that works Ill mount the resistors at the rear  thanks again for the info much appreciated  :152:
Ill update post when all done

Just an update : the resistors that arrived were 25 W 10 ohm and I only used 2 in total ( one per side ) and they worked perfectly I toyed with mounting them higher up near the headlight on the upper plastics but a combination of the bolt not being long enough to catch the nut and the fact they wouldnt mount horizontally ment I abandoned the idea and put them back in the stock position .. on another note I decided to mount the resistors to the plate the rear lamp is mounted to for heat dissipation .. drilled 1 screw hole for each resistors and bolted them on with a tiny nut and nyloc nut theres plenty of room and the nut doesnt foul the back of the lamp if you place them well .. as this was an experiment I opted to try the cheap Amazon set of 4 indicators with daytime running lights and rear brake lights just to see how they go..theyre dead cheap and look good but to be honest one of the threaded bars came right out as I over tightened it .. just glued it back but if they stop working I might opt for the Oxford night rider
Any questions feel free to ask  :028:
