Lockdown
« on: November 14, 2020, 11:20:09 PM »
Hi, Can anyone confirm weather bikes are allowed out for pleasure riding? I was watching a YouTube video earlier today and the guy commented that bike were allowed out for pleasure riding. I was convinced that as of the 2nd November it was for essential use only. I'm referring to England, not sure how Wales and Scotland are restricted at present.

Far as I understand it not in England. Work or "essential purposes" only.

Wales is now out of lockdown. Scotland  :027:

My understanding is that the rules in this regard are essentially the same as in the March lockdown - strictly speaking, going for a pleasure ride is not allowed! However, like most of the rules this time, they are unenforceable and the worst that would happen if you were actually stopped by the police is to be given a warning. The rules didn't stop me last time and definitely wouldn't stop me now from going for a pleasure ride. From the point of view of containing the pandemic, this activity poses zero risk!

How have they concluded that riding for pleasure equates to essential travel only?
