900 GT Pro Fork Lock?

Is there a trick to locking the forks on my Tiger 900? The manual says to push the key down and rotate to the lock position with the front wheel on full lock to the left. No joy for me and I don't want to bend/twist the key? Could be a faulty lock or maybe I do need to apply more pressure as this is a new bike but that doesn't feel right.  Anybody else unable to lock the front fork? Any advice before I conclude the part may need replacing?

Ive found on my Rally Pro that you dont have to depress the key very much at all, and dont put the steering on completely full lock, and it works fine

Yes, I found another thread on the same. Push down 'gently' and after engaging full left lock move but just a degree or two whilst pressing down and it locks into place.  Thank you and sorry for the newbie post!

No worries, my 2012 is like that too.  Basically lightly turn the key and the forks until it locks into place, it's a few degrees off from complete lock too which is unintuitive.

My '16 is same, a few degrees off full lock.

My '11 has an arrow marker cast in the frame to show alignment with the lock hole. Do the 900's not have this?

Talk about making a simple task difficult. While turning the key gently, very lightly push the bars off full lock, just a fraction, until the key slips into lock position. I have no idea if there’s an arrow marking on the frame as there’s no need to look for or at one.

I don't use it. Just pointing out it's there. Never had an issue with the 800

there is a mark , once you have successfully locked it you will notice how it lines up , can be used as a guide , but just off full lock will become muscle memory to you soon enough
