Automatic Chain Oilers; Best oil for UK winter;

Advice required please;
Which is the best chain oil for Auto-oilers in the UK winter, i.e. when temperature is below about 5C ?

That would depend as much on the oiler as anything else.

Scottoilers can adjust the drip rate so when colder you just open it more.
Loobman while not fully automatic - press the button longer.
Forget the name of the bouncing weight one. That's fully automatic so something runny.
Any of the electronically pumped units, such as Pro-oiler - Oil consistency doesn't matter as they are pumped.

I've got a cobrra nemo oiler and find 80w90 gear oil perfect for all season use.

How did I forget the covers. Another pumped unit. The best of all the units I've used.

I use the Cobrra, you can use what ever oil you find best and you oil it as much or as little as you want.

Scottoiler with chainsaw oil does mine superbly.

Hi Scottoiler make 2 different oils for hot and cold weather - I think the cold weather one is red and the cold one is blue but you can check on the bottle
I tend to use the blue stuff all year round but dont go out that much in v cold weather - yes I do adjust the flow rate for summer/winter - should be approx 1 drop per minute on idle

Sorry folks got this wrong - just checked and red oil is for 20-40 degC and blue is for 0-30 degC

If the oiler is located fairly close to the engine it may not matter so much as it will warm up as you ride.
