Coolant volume

Just drained my coolant down as part of the 24k service and have only  managed to get 1.5 lts back in (minus the expansion tank), done everything I can to dislodge any air locks etc. on looking at old coolant and measuring it, I only got 1.75 lts out! drained down as per muddy sump vid and left overnight to drain .... any thoughts?

Did you pull lower radiator hose down to drain the engine as well?
How much did you use to refill?

yep, all as per muddy sump, even left it overnight to drain down! 1.5 lts would all it would take (excluding expansion tank)
All ran up OK to temp.

I've managed well over 2 liters in for refill but had the rad out.

I've had the  same problem a few times with the 2012 XC. Do your best to get the airlock out then check it each ride afterward. Eventually, with a top-up or two you'll be back to spec.

When I crashed my 800 in may, they changed so many parts, they had to refill the cooling system
and about 10km after picking up the bike, I had a low coolant warning.
Went back and they said it can happen as it was fully drained,  so maybe just do a small ride staying
close by or pack the coolant, in the end mine needed 2-3dl to top it up.

Yes I also changed coolant at 12k service and used Muddy Sump info - seem to remember I had to run the engine till cooling fan comes on after initial filling plus blip throttle a bit to circulate coolant, then leave to cool down and top up again
