Tiger 800 Engine Covers

I've just bought a brand new Gen 3 Tiger 800 XCA but do not like the new colour engine covers on the : Crank, Balancer, Clutch and Alternator covers.
The Gen 2 covers are Black which I prefer but Triumph aftermarket sales do not advise to fit the Gen 2 covers to a Gen 3 bike even though they are the same fitting, just a little lighter apparently.
Has anyone done this mod or have any info please?

Have you thought of fitting R & G engine covers instead of replacing the original covers?

I had a look at those, but not quite what I'm looking for.  Thanks anyway.
After a bit more investigation the Gen 3 Alternator cover has a slightly different set up re the cable guides inside the casing.

Think it might be a slightly lower output Alternator on the Gen 3, so probably physically different, which, if correct, may explain difference in internal layout of cover..

Has anyone actually done this?  Is it a pain getting the alternator cover off?
