Hi Rick,
I'm just quoting from Haynes;  "hang a 10-20kg weight from the middle of the  bottom run of the chain. Measure along the top run the length of  20 links, - from the centre of the first pin to the centre of the 21st pin.

I put 50k km on the OEM chain on my 2012 and have 30k km on the replacement one I ordered from Triumph.  Overall I'm pretty happy with the stock chains.
