I have used Grip Puupies on my bikes for years although mine are more like a smoother neoprene wetsuit material without the hash mark design. Might be an older  design???   They have been on my Tiger 800, Tiger 1050SE and even a BMW GS I briefly had (dont ask) before my Tiger 900.  The factory OEM heated grips work fine but just take a bit longer for you to feel the heat.  I actually prefer it as there are no hot spots.
I will say when cutting the grip puppies on the throttle side remember they will expand slightly so leave sufficient gap space so the throttle operates freely.
