Triumph would argue that they are passing any savings on to you by not putting the price up, also while Europe, America and the Antipodes are big markets for Triumph and other bike manufacturers, by far the biggest market is Asia, so that's why they move their production there, labour rates may be slightly cheaper, but the governments of these countries are keen on increasing their manufacturing base via grants and tax breaks, the UK government is not.

Thailand has a massive automotive manufacturing sector. Dozens of brands, both car/motorcycle are manufactured there and for good reason. Wages do factor, but things like corporate tax. tax breaks and incentives to relocate business there, cost of land, construction costs, ease of doing business, availability cheap labour, cheaper overheads the list goes on.

Couldn't agree more, I think we could learn some important lessons !..

Agreed.. and I'm sure the relevant government minister would tell you that there are without doubt 'lessons to be learned' and that 'procedures will be put in place' etc.. etc..
               This 'Star Trek' thing you mention, we don't get new-fangled stuff like that in Lincolnshire but am I right in assuming that it's one of them there 'reality TV' programmes (like on the wireless..) where some has-been celebrities are forced to march across the Sahara and drink things that they later wish they hadn't ?..
