Valve Clearances, values and interval to check
«

Hello, next month I will check the valve clearances on my motorcycle. I do not have the service manual and I did not find very clear information in the internet about the values of recommended(Inlet and exhaust). Another question, is the interval for this check every 40,000km? If anyone knows and can share I am very grateful.
My motorcycle is: Tiger 800 xcx 2015/2015

Thank you very much SOHUTAA.
I have a friend with more experience in mechanics than me, so I'm going to ask him if he can help me. If he can't I will do it myself.

Hi and welcome to the forum.
Have a look at Muddy Sumps service videos in this section of the forum for an in depth method of checking and adjusting valve clearances.

A word of caution.
Muddy sumps great video is on a Gen1 bike.
I'm assuming the 2015 bike will be a Gen2.
Very similar but the access to the Gen2 is a bit more awkward and there are extra components to remove.
Enjoy.

Your easiest option may be a Haynes manual, either a good bookshop near you could order one without too much extra cost (if they regularly order/sell international books?) or Haynes can ship it worldwide. They also do it online, at the same book price for 1yrs access, but not as a pdf, you have to view it on screen.

Hi Stevie.P, I have a subscription to Haynes. But I noticed that for some procedures they are not very specific. For example, in the Tiger Gen1 service manual the values for Inlet and Exaust are:
Inlet: 0,10 - 0,20mm
Exhaust: 0,275 - 0,325mm
And these values are different for GEN2. So Haynes is excellent for most procedures, but if they were more specific with some information it would be perfect.

Hi. I have the latest haynes manual that covers gen2 and it is fine for the valve check and adjust.

Yes, the manual is excellent, the procedures are very well explained. I do not have the printed manual, but I believe it is different from online access. And there is no information in the manual (Intake and Exhaust) according to the Generation of the motorcycle.
