tiger 850 sport - is a remap to 900 spec possible ?

Hi all, as i understand the 850 sport is purely a different engine mapping as opposed to mechanical engine internals bieng different.Therefore will it be possible for triumph main dealer to re-map to standard 900 map,(95bhp),?

Triumph have made it clear that you can not remap the 850 to 900 spec. I think it needs a complete ecu change. Having read about the differences, I’m not sure there is that much difference anyway. Don’t look at this bike as an 850, it is the same engine size.

The 850 does not have the 6 axis IMU that the 900 has, so this would indicate that a full electronic package would be needed, for the 900 modes map to work.

     excuse me for sounding dumb but i thought the 2019/2020 tiger 900 base model doesnt have the imu anyway but it is 95bhp.Surely its only the gt pro that has this. the gt and rallys dont.

            Where did you get the info bout not being able to remap ?

According to Revzilla "And before anyone asks, no, you can’t go to your Triumph dealer and have them flash an 850’s ECU to make it run like a 900. Triumph claims the ECU is locked to prevent this."

All 900 have IMU, the 850 now in 2021 replaces the base 900, that's the logic even if I personally find this really dumb and they don't have IMU.

I’m not 100% sure where I herd it, but it I believe it came from Triumph. Apparently they locked it to prevent that very thing. After all, why make a cheaper bike easy to get closer to the next model up. I’m pretty sure the boffins out there will find a way to change it, but can’t really see the point of risking it for little gain anyway?

If you watch the review of the Tiger 850 sport on Motorcycle.com  (YouTube) you might find any engine remap isn’t needed. I think the power/torque figures are at  about 5.50 if you’re interested.

The throttle maps are restricted.  If you keep the base 850 tune, and just copy in the ETV maps from a 900, you should be able to get back to the 900 powerband.  There is a guy on ADVrider that has derestricted his 900.
