17 tooth front sprocket

   Is it worth going up to a 17 tooth front sprocket  as I do a lot of motorway miles and would like to improve mpg a bit if possible. 

Anyone got good or bad feedback please?

Definitely - one of the best mods you can make in my opinion if you just ride on road.

How fast motorway miles?
Whilst gearing up / taller reduces engine revs, it may or may not improve mpg?
Some may prefer a more relaxed engine but that may not necessarily get higher mpg?
At some speeds, the throttle plates may need greater opening to maintain a certain speed due to greater loading / wind resistance?
The Tiger800 ain't slippery / sleek...

I did exactly the opposite, I put a 15 tooth sprocket to have shorter gears to get better off-road.

I did it and love it.

i did it excellent and cheap mod and it doe's give me better mpg

Keep it under 80mph clock speed and its ok. Above that and it starts to drink it.

What mpg did you get, before & after?

I'm interested in this mod as I feel first gear is too short for my 100% road use.

Does it not affect the speedometer though?

No, because the speedo is calculated via the rear ABS sensor signal, so wheel revolution, not gearbox output, dependant. The 'Gen 1' pre-2015 Tiger was driven off the gearbox output shaft though.
