Service Due Today?
« on: January 28, 2021, 05:03:07 PM »
Hello good people :002:
I have a 2018 Tiger 800 bought second hand from a Triumph dealer with 2001 mil on it last July. And prior to taking delivery it had an annual service.
Currently it has 3276mil on the clock.
Recently Ive had the battery out of the bike for a few weeks on a trickle charger as it wasnt getting used so much what with lockdowns and icy weather but I put the battery back in today to use the bike.
On turning on/off, the display now says Service Due Today and the Service warning light is permanently lit.
The Service info tray says: 4724mil or 07/2021
Is it normal for it to warn you 6 months in advance?
And by my calculation the remaining miles to the 6000 service should be 2724 not 4724?

Hi rainbow-walker,
Thanks for the quick reply
Right I see what must have happened now.
Clock, Date and Trip meters all reset themselves without the battery in!
Have reset them. But dont I feel foolish now! :034:
In my defense, so many computer related things in the world these days remember their last state when reconnected to power. I guess Tigers arent one of them though!
Thanks for pointing me in the right direction, ride safe!

No worries, and I did exactly the same thing myself, worrying about why the service indicator was on  :031: .

Agree, I fitted an Optimate to the bike battery and is on charger constantly when not in use, I have never removed a battery to charge it  :027: :027:
