More power for the 2018 tiger 800XCA
« on: February 07, 2021, 03:23:11 PM »
Im sitting at home with 3 feet of snow on the ground dreaming of nicer weather and riding.

That being said I would like a little more power for my 800. I have the arrow exhaust and the rest is stock. Any ideas?? I really dont want to change gearing since I do spend most of my time on the road. Thoughts on programmers?

Getting more power is going to be difficult  @ 95bhp for a 800 is probably at its peak for reliability , usually extending power at top end alters  torque low down if changing cams ,as they say no substitute for cubes , look at a 1200 explorer

Have you had it mapped since the Arrow can was put on,I had mine done and although theres no power increase it smooths the fueling out

No mapping for the 2018 XCA  I do take it to the dealer once per year for the service by the book. The tech does check for updates every year. I had a friend with the 1200 he went for a service and the tech found an update that really woke up his bike.. But no such luck for the 2018 800...

I don't really agree with your opinion. . .
The 675 or 765 reach 125hp !!
I think there is room to dope the tiger 800.
And that would be the ultimate solution of a light and manoeuvrable motorcycle, with Watt.
The 1200 is much brighter, but too heavy. . .

Part of the reason for 95 bhp limit is due to the regulations around down rating to an A2 licence, which is part of the reason why the new 900 makes the same power. I have not seen anything about increasing the 800 power just by tweaking the ECU.

There was a guy on here a few years ago who was going to change the cams for either the STriple or the 675 Daytona and remap the ECU. not sure how he got on in his quest for more horses.......

You have to think what the bike is designed for , low down torque and adventure journey , ie high annual mileage , the 765 doesnt have the same low down torque , peak figures are well above that of the tiger rpm range , also Im betting there wont be many high mileage 765s in comparison.
