Handlebar Grips
« on: April 02, 2021, 02:07:34 PM »
Hi All,
Had a mechanic install some handlebar grips (non-heated) to my XR and it's been supper poorly done. I'm planning to replace again, but wanted to make sure if any universal grips would work. The left handle grip didn't seem to go all the way through till the end (see image).

Thanks,

That's disgusting work. Did you pay him to do this or did he pay you. The grip should be a snug fit. I wouldn't use that mechanic again.
Look at this on eBay

Disgusting is an understatement. I tried looking at it myself but im uncertain why its sticking out with this lip? Do i need to remove something before hand?

Just cannot believe how anybody could make such a pigs ear of what is a fairly easy job, don't let him anywhere near your brakes!

I swear it wasn't me ( but could have been ! ) . Is it possible to wire up new R&G heated grips to the ( 800 xrt ) button ?)

Guys, im still unsure whether or not universal grips will work in the tiger, or I if there are specific grips for the 800 to accommodate for this plastic lip and screw that can be seen in the pic. The right grip is installed perfectly fine.

The grips arent supposed to go over the screw. They sit up to it (at least mine do).
If youre not going down the heated route, why not by Triumph grips? At least youll know they fit properly.

I would love to. I simply can't seem to find them online at all (other than a few used items on ebay). Only heated grips seem to be available for sale.
