Hi all, close to pulling trigger on 900gt. Currently have explorer gen2 which i have thoroughly enjoyed for over 3 years and 20,000 miles. Struggling with weight on explorer especially with my 28"inseam. Have owned 800xrx, tiger sport 1050. i do few days away at a time 2 up. and hopefully tour of france. partner is lightweight. Will the 900 tour with 2 up and luggage at a decent pace?.Are the vibes excessive ?. I know its not going to fully compare with explorer and dont want to make expensive mistake. thanks in advance,baz.

Hey Baz.

I have the GTP, Ive not been touring or fully loaded but me (16 stone 28" leg) plus Mrs (10 stone wet.....) and the bike pulls like a demon. I have never thought "underpowered" but i chicken out at 120... no unusual vibes that Ive noticed (appreciate grunt and top end are different beasts)

I have put mirror extenders on as i had a lovely view of my elbows but (apart from pannier racks and a Fuel exhaust) ive not done anything to her, not needed to.

Must say I'm not overly impressed with the Connectivity functionality or usability though.... but if you are doing the GT then no connectivity.. Have a think about the quick shifter add on though, i do like that....

Ive gone from Gen 1 Explorer to 900 RP. Loved the 33k plus miles on the 1200 but just too heavy now. 2 up loaded on the 900 is no problem. Nice characterful engine too 😊

Personally, I found the vibes intrusive. I think you need to take a test ride to see whether you'd find them acceptable or not.

I part x'ed my Gen II Explorer for the GT Pro and rode it out of the showroom, literally, and in those first two minute thought "What have I done?" but as I went down the road I started to appreciate how good the bike is and I am loving it to the point if I was offered my money and Explorer back I would not take it.
As for the vibration there's a little but in general it feels like I'm riding a bike again rather than the turbine smooth 1200 and with the weight loss its so nimble. A mate came round to show off his new 900 Tracer and I moved the 900 out the garage and shuffled it alongside the Tracer I could not have done that with the 1200.
You are only jealous as the voices are seeking to me!
