Coil resistance!
« on: May 04, 2021, 03:47:38 PM »
Hello guys, could someone help me?
I would like to know if the values below resistance are within the acceptable limit for the ignition coils.

Primary resistance:
Coil 1: 6.9 ohm
Coil 2: 6.9 ohm
Coil 3: 6.6 ohm

Secondary resistance:
Coil 1: 9.68k ohm
Coil 2: 9.66k ohm
Coil 3: 9.72k ohm

Thanks in advance.

Only one value listed for ignition coil resistance in the service manual - 1.5Ω~1.6Ω.

How & where are you measuring yours?

To test the coil secondary resistance, remove the rubber end piece and connect the meter as shown.

The Haynes manual gives 11k Ohms for the secondary winding they tested and the ones in this thread are certainly in the right ball park. I would check the meter is reading correctly because, as said, the primary should be giving ~1.5 Ohms. The fact that all three coils give similar readings would normally indicate everything is ok since a fault would be expected to show up in only one coil?
