Stutters
« on: May 15, 2021, 03:53:18 PM »
Had a couple of stutters on way into work on Friday - momentary loss of power, then a couple of engine dying episodes at round-a-bouts.  This a few days after over 5 hours riding in heavy rain. No error codes. Suspected either the side stand or clutch switches, so went the easy option first and disconnected the side stand switch and shorted the loom side. No issues going home.
This morning thought I would look at the clutch switch. It's a bit of a palaver removing it and the short loom attached to it is heat crimp in one spot so needed a bit of cutting. Clean as a whistle and smooth operation so reassembled and some heat shrink in place of the original covering and all good.

The side stand switch is really in a shitty location but that's the nature of the beast.

Could any water have gotten into the kill switch housing?

Yes a possibility but it gets fairly regular "wash outs" with various sprays.

Hmmm - maybe take seat off and unplug/reconnect everything in sight and give it some WD40 or I use spray grease on electrics

Pretty sure I have it chief by removing the side stand switch. Will monitor for a week before`closing`the job.
