Bent rim trying to replace with new
« on: May 16, 2021, 10:05:21 PM »
I found BartFactory's website and saw that they can replace both the front and rear rims with new Excel rims that they relace to the original hub. Unfortunately (?) I bent my rear wheel and I'm looking at a serious straightening and unbending job, even painting if I want it to not look like it was ran over, therefore I'm looking at a more economical option which is to replace the rim and have someone relace it (But not send it across Europe). But I can't find a rim specially made for the tiger 800 XC on Excel's website nor a catalogue with "universal" rims (not drilled, ...). Does anyone here have a reference for a rim, spoke and nipple kit that would fit my XC. Bike is a 2015 XCx and rim size is 17x4.25 - 32H.
Thanks
Hugo

Out of interest, in what way is your back wheel bent and how did it happen? Given the cost of new rims, I would have thought repairing the rim you have would have been the best way to go unless it has suffered some horrendous mishap?

Is that in the Picos mountains, looks like a familiar bend (on YouTube clips) that catches out many bikes that end up in the ditch just off road. :084:
Also owned my 1979 Bonnie T140E from new!
