Returnee to the Tiger and a question
« on: August 20, 2021, 03:49:59 PM »
I'm a previous Tiger 800 owner who after 5 years on BMWs has returned with a new 900GT.
Loving the new bike and finding it is everything I expected so no regrets on the purchase.
Has anybody found one of thr Givi tanklock tank bags that fits without fouling the ignition key. My current ST602 prevents insertion/removal of the key and makes it hard to turn it. I like the Givi bags and have already invested 13 on a new tank ring so am keen to stick with the brand. Not after anything massive just big enough to carry a puncture repair kit and visor cleaning stuff.

This is an issue previously discussed here as the tank filler opening was moved way forward on the T900.  I have the SW Motech Pro Mini tank bag which allows you to move the bag forward or back on the mount, but even all the way back I still must remove the tank bag to get the key in or out.  Luckily operating the key once inserted isnt an issue.  Its a real pain but Ive kinda gotten used to it as I love everything else about the bike.

I've just returned from a 3k mls tour with  a GIVI tankbag / tanklock and yes it is a bit awkward, but not a show stopper  :027: :027:

Yes, unless you change brands. I have exactly the same issue, but have adapted.
Generally, I insert the key and switch the ignition on, then fit the tank bag and start up.
When stopping for breaks etc, I hit the kill switch, remove tank bag and then turn off ignition and sort steering lock.

having read all this, come on Mr Triumph don't you think about every day life? Why put the ignition lock in a place it will surely get into trouble with a tank bag, not only those fixed to a tank ring but any tank bag...?
Life is too short to drink bad wine or to ride bad bikes.
