what is in a name. if you believe the marketing or branding twonks  a lot.

The bike market has apparently shifted from race replicas to more 'upright' rider bikes.

the adding of 'sport' doesn't affecdt me that much, lots of company's add 'sport' to a product to make it seem more snappy. perhaps appealing to the shallower instincts of some/most/all of their customer base.

lets face it the 'adventure bike' tag has very succesfully sold many, many bikes. supposedly to ride off into the far off distanct lands. but like the much derided 4x4/luxury SUV's/ AKA 'chelsea tractors' those nikes are never to going to (deliberately) go off road or off an a round the world adventure.

So 'Sport' is a marketing label meant to tickle yuour interest, perhaps persuade some of the race rep buyers into trying out a less full on psuedo race rep bike.

if it helps Triumph secure more sales, good for them.
if it starts/.continues a treend towards smaller, lighter, simpler bikes agian good for them. the world has seen  a massive bloating of bikles or cars as more 'features' are added. it still amzes me seeing 1960's era cars such as (true) minis, or similar vehicles and compare the sioze of thoise vehicels with the modern worlds mini cars.

I get that emissions legislation requires more complex control systems. its not that long ago that Royal Enfield were boasting that their bikes were still true to the 1950's UK Enfield bikes. Alonmg with all the issues that such outdated engineering brought... more frequent maintenance, regular checks, worse fuel economy, frankly dismal performance.  We have becoime obsessed with theoretical perfomrance... how often someone new pop up ona  forum demanding more power, better seats, better brakes better.... Just go ride a bike and enjoy the thrills that it brings. You don't need an 'Advetnrue bike' to have an adventure on a bike. Che Guerva rode round latin or is it south America spreadin revolutiuon off the back of a 600 Triumph (or similar)

A 1947 Norton Model 18 he called "La Poderoso" (the mighty one) -- 500 single/21 HP.   :002:
There are a terrible lot of lies going about the world, and the worst of it is that half of them are true.
