Is Triumph going to be successful in MX and Enduros?

(1/1)

K1W1:
Now that Triumph have confirmed that they intend to enter the MX and Enduro bike market the question is are they likely to be successful?
Both of those markets are ultra competitive and are going to be extremely tough nuts to crack for a new entrant with no real recent history in them. I can foresee Triumph needing to tip in container loads of money in sponsorships and support in order to gain any sort of foothold on grids and starting lineups and will that translate to profitable retail sales? Pictures of Steve McQueen riding a Triumph twin in the 1964 ISDT are not going to sell bikes in that market in 2024 or 2025.
Do Triumph have the resources to do this properly or is it likely to be a black hole that ultimately negatively affects the whole operation?

tauzero:
They've taken some serious riders on board, so they seem to be having a real go at it. Consider the fact that they've just extended their engine supply deal to Moto2 by three years - there definitely seems to be the desire to be properly involved in motor sport, not just be on the periphery.
