My last front Avon Trailrider did 27,000 km.
I usually get 14-17,000 km from the rears.

Rear lasted 7000 miles - centre of tyre at limit  -  due to mainly 2 up touring  .
Front currently done 8000 ,  and plenty of tread all round the tyre still  so will easy get another 3k i reckon   :300:

I Think I will try the Avons next time I dont think my scorpion2 front has has done 3000 miles and it's nearly worn out.  Would it be ok to mix the Avon front with a Pirelli scorpion rear?

Am using Dunlop Trailmax Meridian on the Super Tenere at the moment and they are a really good tire.

No issues with mixing brands but you should be careful about compounds.
You can have
Radial front and rear
Radial rear crossply front
Crossply front and rear

You should not have
Radial front
Crossply rear.

I've used Mich 5 Trail for years on Tiger 800 (14 plate); rear does about 11,000 each time! Squared off by then but legal. QUESTION - my regular supplier says he cannot get hold of the Trail version but OK to now fit the Road 5. Is that ok with a Trail version still on the front? Cost inc fitting about 150. Comments please.

No problem I had 2 rear standard R5's matched to my last R5 Trail front as each time my dealer only had the standard version on the shelf.  :028:
Also owned my 1979 Bonnie T140E from new!
