Ducati Desert X - Tiger Rally competitor?

The Ducati Desert X is finally about to be revealed as a 2022 model and it's a stand alone product not a tarted up Scrambler. The engine appears to be from the Multistrada 950 and the emphasis is off road so is this bike about to launch a serious threat to Triumph (Rally and Rally Pro), BMW (F850GS and GSA) and KTM (890 Adventure and Adventure R) as well as perhaps Yamaha (Tenere 700) for the mid size adventure market?

Looks like it's at the more hard core end of the market, bet it'll be fairly pricey in comparison

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but fugly springs to mind.

Apart from the action shots the main pic is just a Photoshop "impression" of what it looks like. Probably will still be "fugly" though....

Here in Australia a Multi 950S is only AUD$200 more than a Tiger 900 Rally Pro so I doubt that the price difference will be substantial.

The main picture is based on a two year old show version of the bike that had a Scrambler air cooled engine in it. It will bear little or no relationship to the finished product. Apart from anything else the proportions are all wrong.
