Eh up troops
So, what are your plans for the long-awaited trip to see Uli?
My thoughts are:

Outbound
dep. Harwich (Thurs 12 May 2300)
arr. Hook of Holland (Fri 13 May 0800)
Return
dep. Hook of Holland (Mon 16 May 2200)
arr. Harwich (Tues 17 May 0600)

I understand that people will have different starting points that will probably dictate where they will cross the channel, but I thought it might be helpful to find out how others are planning to do the trip.

I could be tempted to come back later, if anyone is considering doing a mini-tour and would like some company, but thats a maybe.

Anyway, its just food for thought., getting excited now.  :046: !!!

Cheers
Geoff

Hello Geoff

I am already booked on the evening sailing 12/05/22 - see you in the bar!

I'm heading up to Norway after the MegaMeet so not heading back to the Hook until mid-June.

How many sleeps?

Definitely looking for more than just a long week end considering the distance. There was previous preliminary discussions (and possible route suggestion by Dai?) along the lines of Wed PM tunnel and short ride to overnight stop in Belgium at Ypres, then Thursday ride down to Esch-sur-Sure in Luxembourg, then Friday ride to Frankfurt (with Uli suggesting a possible route for either side of the Rhine). After the weekend an extended route back via something like France taking in some Balcony roads and up to Normandy for Jimmy60 to possibly visit the American D-Day memorial sites? Then back from there. :084:  :305: :305: :305: :305: :305: :031: :305: :305: :305: :305: :305: :031: :305: :305: :305: :305: :305:
Also owned my 1979 Bonnie T140E from new!

Bloody ell Alex, I know I mentioned a possible mini-tour on the way back, but., Norway  :005:

Hi Stevie; yes, I remember your return trip idea being mentioned before; could be a go-er, and Jimmy will be riding on the right (wrong) side of the road for a change. Well have to see what everyones plans and ideas are.

Would love to extend the Germany trip to take in the balcony roads but annoyingly I won't be able to spare the time, mainly due to work plans.

Me & Lang will most likely make it a 6-day trip, with 2 fairly long days each way using the Chunnel, plus the Sat/Sun rides. We might try to visit Ypres on the way out if we can make it a 7-day trip.

Just taking the scenic route home - should only take about a month.   :164:

As Hoek van Holland ferry was mentioned if you want I can dig up some of the planned routes I used to get to the ferry. I always took two days on the way up and just one day down.

Regarding Esch sur sure: I am toying around with the idea to come up to Luxembourg pick you up and take you to Frankfurt or thereabouts.
