Engine light and fault code 1521

Hi everybody.
Px my old Crossrunner for a Tiger 800 XRT 2017 last Saturday.
Needed a lighter bike as now getting a bit old.
130 miles ride home no problem. Really like the bike.
Sunday morning started bike. Engine light stayed on plus TC off, ABS light flashed as normal.
The TC off light doesn't always stay on when started but engine light does when cold started.
Road the bike all warning lights went out straight away. Road about 80 miles with stops no further problems that day.
Yesterday started bike same warning lights stayed on until bike was moving. Again road bike no further warning lights.
Today started bike same warning lights. Haven't yet road it.
Have checked the battery with a volt metre 12.8v and 14.6 v when engine running.
Tried the button check displayed dtc 1521.
Will the 3 warm ups method help to clear the fault.
The bike only displays the faults when starting the engine when it is cold.
Any advice appreciated
Cheers Martin

1521 code is ABS lost communication with management system, could need the abs ring needs cleaning.

I got this code on my XCA every cold start in the months before I carried out the 12k service. Never tried to ride the bike with the MIL on but simply cleared the code at the start of the ride and it was ok until the next cold start.
At the 12k service, I forgot about the problem and, by time I had finished, the problem had gone away. The only things I did that were relevant was to take off the wheels and the speed sensors and I certainly cleaned and checked everything before putting it back together. I also changed the battery and assumed the ABS problem may have had something to do with the battery voltage being dragged down too low during starting but can't be sure of that.

Hi Thanks for the replies.
Awjdthumper
How did you clear the code before each ride?
The engine light went out once the bike was moving same time as the abs light. a few miles per hour.
I will contact the dealer tomorrow to see what they say. The bike came with a six month RAC warranty.
I was hoping it would be a simple fix as the dealer is 130 miles away so makes it difficult to take back.
I did think it might be the battery but the readings look OK but should I test it when cranking the motor?

I have TuneECU installed on a small tablet with an OBD Link MX plugged into the diagnostics socket. As said, I didn't try to ride the bike before clearing the code - had I realised it would have cleared itself during the ride, I would not have bothered to use TuneECU!
As said, I think it was almost certainly a battery issue during cranking which probably caused a momentary COM problem between the ABS ECU and the main ECU. If the engine light goes off at the same time as the ABS light, I honestly wouldn't about the problem and just wait to see what happens if, and when, you have to change the battery.

Over the 6yrs I've had my XRt I've had the same thing several times. I have to ride, maybe 50yds, on a public path from my garden then onto the road and the lights always cleared by then. Initially before I realised this would happen I would stop after a few yards and turn the ignition off then back on and most times they cleared for the second start. It always cleared itself after a few days without any intervention from me.
Also owned my 1979 Bonnie T140E from new!

That's a fairly common DTC but if it persists and TC & ABS remains disabled then it's probably worth checking the ABS ECU / Modulator connectors are secure. If there's a comms issue you will see TC & ABS lights stay on because the main ECU doesn't know what's going on.
The 3 warm-up cycles should clear the DTC, but only of there's no recurrence.

Hi everybody
Thanks for all the replies.
I have put a new battery on the bike which appears to have cured the problem.
The old battery I think was the original Yuassa.
