I've been with AVIVA Direct for a few years and for the last 2 or 3 they have no longer offered motorcycle insurance to new customers. I rang this morning to get foreign cover added to my policy for the Megameet next month. Obviously my standard UK policy covers me for Europe but only at TPFT level so it makes sense to maintain my fully comprehensive cover with foreign cover. Being part way through my annual policy I arranged for it to start 1st May, so until 31st August .... for £7 and a few pence.
But when I asked if my renewal premium would be with foreign cover added for the year she asked if I hadn't received a letter reference my motorcycle policy, which I haven't. She thinks it will likely come nearer my renewal then, but the bottom line is that AVIVA Direct are terminating all motorcycle policies by not offering renewal.
She did indicate that the forthcoming letter will indicate recommended insurance companies that AVIVA underwrite.
So I guess the end of August will bring the infamous motorcycle renewal circus event.
Also owned my 1979 Bonnie T140E from new!

I wasn't aware any Insurance companies dealt direct on motorcycles, shame Aviva have followed suit.
Our cars are direct with Axa, our bikes are underwritten by Axa, but have to be via a broker, they will not cover us direct.
Long gone are the days of the Norwich Union Rider policy, when we could have as many bikes as we liked & all covered.
Current bikes Tiger800 XRx, Tiger Sport 1050, Ariel FH 650, Yam Serow 225.

Gosh, that's a blast from the past, about 4 decades.
Yes, bikes with Norwich Union rider policy and my car with them for many years on permanent annual green card cover while serving in (formally west) Germany.
