You’re probably right, but it never ceases to amaze me how little warranties are actually worth here when it comes time to make a claim…and not just on bikes.

If it’s an 80/20 type tyre that suits your riding style and conditions then you have two choices. You can replace the cross ply 100/90 with a 110/80 radial and transform the bike. It is the cheapest of one of the best improvements you can make to a 19” Tiger.
Option two is follow lord Triumph install the crossply and constantly put up with a vague front end until the tyres wear out and then buy the radial because you will want it by then.

Sadly I've twice had to threaten legal action with (car) main dealers on their warranties.

Its one of the reasons I started only buying privately and now as a new biker (on my second bike) both have been private purchases.

So you have precisely zero experience with motorcycle warranty claims then.

No but in part I made a few enquiries of bikes at dealerships.

Two Suzuki dealers didn't return my calls/messages.

A Triumph dealer in Nottingham told me on the phone 'your bike is probably in poor condition as its got 18,000miles on so we wouldn't offer you much'.


I replied the bike I was interested in buying from them was 17,000miles so not that far behind, thanked him and hung up.


I enquired about another bike but was told I couldn't test ride their test bike as they were busy with rampant sales to arrange rides(!).

I felt alittle stung by the bike retailer experience that I rightfully or wrongly started to draw a parallel between car and bike main dealers.

Wow Pluto!  And I thought all those behaviors at dealers (stealers) only happened on this side of “da’ pond”.  When the economy sours (soon enough)…they’ll be begging “hat in hand” for your business.
