So…., where are the reports and photo’s; are you just holding back from letting us know how good it was, or are the hang-overs taking longer than normal to clear?
Roses are red,
Violets are blue,
Some poems rhyme,
But this one doesn’t.

+1 what he said.
I have been assuming that there has been a delay getting the pictures developed at the chemist but surely it does not take that long.

Aaaah, those were the days; trying to “snatch” a couple of extra exposures from the 36-shot roll…, sometimes the holiday roll would stay in the camera for months, just waiting for the “right shots” to finish off the film.

Here's some alternative photos Geoff, just to keep you going.
Not quite the MegaMeet, more of a MicroMeet, but the three of us had some fun around Wales last Friday & Saturday...

Yes we're all holding back as it just wasn't the same without you Geoff.

(you're unfortunate MIA status was mentioned by some who'd hoped to catch up with you)
Reality
we all separated in different directions to do things with none of us heading straight back to the UK. I got back late last Saturday evening and just haven't had any real quality spare time yet and Alex is currently a third of the way up Norway in Trondheim and obviously for him time and internet access is likely an issue .... he only managed yesterday to reply to my PM to him from over a week ago.
Also owned my 1979 Bonnie T140E from new!

Hi Stevie
Glad to hear that you got back safely; I did follow your other thread and noticed that you headed off to Normandy (a trip that I would like to do myself at some point); was it worth it, and did you do the “beaches”?
Hopefully Alex is eating up the miles, don’t know where he is, but he should have broken the back of his journey by now.
Well, it seems that you all had a really good trip, the very first Euro-Meet, and maybe it’s whetted your appetite to do more cross-channel excursions, who knows.
I think my days of the long trips is over, but we’ll see…., maybe next year.
Stay safe matey.
Cheers
Geoff

Sorry Geoff
I keep thinking "I must check in on the forum", alas it's usually when I've been out on the bike, and of course senility returns once I'm back in the house!
Many thanks to Uli for the horse brutality, some lovely roads out there and routes put together to show them off. In true Megameet style, some rather fine food and coffee stops were built in as well
As Alex headed north for some motorway miles to get close to his ferry for Norway, I headed west for Vianden in Luxembourg and spent a couple of nights in a very fine little town in the hills. More excellent roads, and just down the road an excellent museum on the role that region played in the battle of the bulge.
Been up into Scotland this weekend, a couple of nights camping near Bonchester Bridge - more food and

Well as we do not want Geoff being in the complete blind let me give you all a short description of what we did on the first Euro Megameet :
We met on Friday night to discuss the tours nothing special happened (even the proverbial squirrel was not mentioned).
The following morning we tried to get on the road by 9.30 and were off by 10. My friend Stephan acted as sweeper (well he had to stay behind us, riding a Ducati). We had another hold up as one of Dan's mirrors started to have a mind of it's own. But this was fixed eventually and I guess some swearing helped to get it done.
Anyway, we made our way through the Taunus hillls, stopped for coffee in the Wisper Valley and after that boarded a ferry to cross the River Rhine for the first time this day. Crossed Bacharach on the other side of the river and climbed the hills passing through the vineyards.
Lunch break was just across the Loreley Rock, and after a few miles back on a ferry to get on the other side of the river again.
Up and down through the hills we had our afternoon coffee (or a glass of Riesling in my case) on Schloss Johannisberg, set in the vineyards with a spectacular view over the river.
We ended up at my place having a beer. That's the advantage of a very small group, more personal.
That night I dragged my English friends into a very traditional Restaurant, forced them to sample the local cider and other local stuff like Grüne Soße, Handkäs and Spundekäs. They managed fairly well.
Thats about Saturday, report on Sunday will follow.
