HELP - Bike will not run !!!

Bike has been running fine, filled up with petrol after a 30 mile ride, bike started and cut out, would not tick over - Now before you say stepper motor I've always kept this clean and never had a problem. And no I don't suspect the fuel to be a problem.

I was able to ride the bike a further 60 odd miles and it would tick over most of the time, stalled a couple of times, also when throttle was shut off in say second gear the bike seemed to be idling to high as it would drive itself. Obviously something wrong here.

I've stripped the bike down, again cleaned the stepper motor and lubricated with GT85 PTFE, put back together starts but will not tick over. I've just ordered a new set of plugs, although I'm dubious that this is the problem as I only serviced it about 500 miles ago (36,000 miles - New plugs, air filter, etc, Valves checked by David).

Checked on DealerTool and no fault codes showing  :187: :187: :187:

Anyone got any ideas what this might be ???

Sounds like it could be a faulty throttle position sensor. Use Dealertool to check that the TPS voltages are within spec.

Select 'Sensor Values' from the top of the interface then look in the tab labelled 'Page 4' in the pop-up window.

Also worth a look on Page 0 at 'Throttle %', 'Idle Steps' and 'Target Idle Speed'.

Thanks Richard, can you tell me what values I'm looking for?

Just selected this and I can see engine not running it was 7. something volts and when the bike started up it was running at 6 something. I can check exact values if that helps?

Also if I replace the TPS with new (about 100  :005:) is this just a plug and play or is there some setting up procedure?

    All info much appreciated  :028:

Just noted exact TPS voltage readings:

Bike not running - 0.718 volts
    Bike running - 0.698 volts

Is this where it should be  :187:
