@K1W1 - had a bit of a play with the Small Rig clamp to emulate your Insta360 PoV mount - good one and I'll definitely use it in addition to my usual off-set

also got the BT remote out and it worked perfectly like it says on the tin even while charging from a desktop charger - going to follow your example and stick it on the handlebar with the strap and keep it charged with a USD-C cable from the 12V feed next to the ignition switch

here's another video where I'm trying out various mounts and other pieces of Insta kit to see what works best - love the idea that I can just stick it somewhere and press record without having to "frame" or do any intellectual masturbation about what the shot could look like  :002:

Just ordered one of these for trackdays on my Street RS. :156:
Probably not going with the remote as it looks fairly redundant for track sessions.:002:

you'll love it  :001: - good piece of kit - pse post some vids and let us know how you're getting on with it

suggest you get a Small Rig clamp with a light-weight selfie stick - seen those that go with the helmet mount and they are perforated and short enough not to interfere with lean angles  :156: - should work well and securely on a track bike where you don't have as much scaffolding as we have on adventure bikes

also would recommend the Insta quick release accessory as it makes fitting/removing the camera to your preferred mount super easy and quick - get at least 2 of those so that you can add one to both sides of the selfie stick without the PITA of screwing/unscrewing it every time

the remote might well be surplus to your requirements UNLESS the GPS and other data give you interesting bits like lean angle, speed, etc - K1W1 knows more about this than I do so maybe he can advise in this regard

finally - seen a YT video where a skateboarder? films himself with half of the (vulnerable) lenses covered by a cap of some sort - looks like the 360 lenses only need about half (the bottom half) of the actual lens to still capture footage when mounted in a horizontal/close to horizontal position

couldn't track down the vid unfortunately but I'm going to be cutting a lens cover in half so that it only covers the top half of the lenses to test out this hypothesis - probably me being anal as usual but if it works it might just save some stone chip damage on the lens - I prefer to ride dirt and there is always crap flying around - you probably have the same experience on the track

I think I have something similar to the small rig mount somewhere, I'll have to dig it out.
Could definitely do with some sort of lens protection, might get a couple of the stick on ones for now.
I'll be using the X3 more to see what the rider's doing than anything else  :001:
I've been using a cheap Drift camera on the Street up until now just for track videos, I'll have to be more careful with this one...

the stick-on ones work well - just remember to set the stitching settings to lens cover in the Settings menu

while you are at it then, might as well get a display cover as well - recently bought some kit from Amazon when I was in the UK and they have the full range at decent prices

Guys keep in mind that these are 360 cameras. You do not need to have the two lenses facing front and back. You need to be aware of where the stitch line is, it is more obvious the closer the subject is to the lens but to minimize the chances of damage to the lens you can have camera oriented at say 45 edges to the direction of travel or even 90 degrees if the camera is sticking out the side of the bike.

The remote would be fun to at least try on a track day. I’m not sure whether it would show enough detail to pick up different lines through corners but it’s the sort of thing I would want to experiment with. Other than that I guess it records speed on screen which may or may not be useful.

The selfie stick I use is the one that comes with the Motorcycle kit. From memory it goes from about 30cm and extends to about 1.2m.  It’s plenty long enough to use on the bike.

You should also check out two companies called Ulanzi and Telesin. Ulanzi in particular make a lot of accessories for Instas including mounting brackets and housings.

This video was just a test ride I did trying the Insta in various locations using the selfie stick mainly.

Got  mine yesterday, I bought the motorcycle kit version which comes with the equivalent  of a small rig clamp, so I don't need to hunt for my other one :001:.

Did a quick try out (without reading instructions initially...)
It gets fairly warm, almost hot in use and is not very intuitive to use are the first things I noticed.
That said, it'll do exactly what I want from looking at the results.
I'm just going to have to sit down and watch the videos etc to suss it out, and mounting the camera on the bike will help with the heat issue.

Not sure about the selfie stick, reminds me of one of these mounted on the bike :008:

happiness - enjoy the new toy

re the faff to operate - not really once you've become a bit more familiar with it - my favourite setting is the "rocket launch" in settings (see pic below) - once this is enabled and you push the left button below the screen, it will wake up the camera even if it is off and start recording in the current setting - another push on the left button and it stops the recording and shuts down the camera - best shortcut IMO and Quinton-proof  :745:

Agree with them being bit of faff but they are less of a faff than GoPros.
