Does this info' help the thieves or would they get picked up when they tried to get the keys coded? A bit worrying that any such info' should go on social media for all to see.
Current bikes Tiger800 XRx, Tiger Sport 1050, Ariel FH 650, Yam Serow 225.

I was thinking the same. Bit strange that the key code would be that easy to obtain on the bike itself.

I think the physical key now only provides a secondary level of security with the key transponder and immobiliser being the main line of defence (my car does not even have a key!). To get a new key paired and working with the immobiliser would need the help of a Triumph Dealer who I am sure would do the checks necessary to show you were the legitimate owner!

That said, I was surprised the key code was written on to the underside of my petrol cap but, in this case, must be viewed as a godsend :084:

Have you tried to find the person from whom the bike was repossessed? They might be open to 'selling' you the keys that go with the bike.....just a thought. It could be cheaper than buying a set (2) of keys from a dealer. (I paid $170 for two keys a couple of years ago)

I don't have the previous owners details, bike was supplied with no keys or V5.  I now have the V5 in my name so that's a start.

I've contacted the local Triumph dealer but they don't have the key code.  They were able to provide me the dealership details in Cardiff who supplied the bike but they don't have the key code either (explained as they're now on their 3rd computer system).  So as the story goes, there's no big central database of keycodes, it's dealer discretion and if you lose the key code you're on your own.

New locks (brand new second hand from eBay) is the way forward, no wonder these things go for big money  :001:

Have you tried the Factory Technical & Warranty dept, they will require proof that the bike is legit. Sounds like dealers don't want to know, they could do this for you.

As previously mentioned, have you tried unscrewing and removing the petrol cap assembly from the tank?
I and other owners have found the key number is often written on the orange plastic part inside in felt tip pen.
Be careful how you read it though, mine can on first glance, be read upside down as a number when it actually is the other way up/around!
