lowering the xc
« on: February 11, 2012, 02:10:22 AM »
OK, so today I decided to jump in with both feet-should tested the water first :138:

I didn't realize the shock could put enough pressure on the 12mm bolts thru the dog-bones to bend them.
I didn't jack the bike up (to find the sweet spot) and by the time I got to the other side the bolts were bent.  A little (or a lot!)percussion adjustment to straighten them out (and new ones on order) and I was able to lower the beast by @ 1".  I raised the forks in the triple trees by 15 mm from OEM and all seems fine.  I used the Soupyperformance adjustable links, as I didn't know how far I wanted to go.  Also installed his adjustable side stand ( @ 2" shorter).  Little chain tightening was also necessary.  Now able to flat foot it with the seat in high position!  (32" inseam)

Much more confidence inspiring
