Some photos of the hotel, Langdale valleys, plus a write up from a Lakes Hotel guide. (The wife will like it).

(Have added some photos of the campsite (down the road from the hotel) in the other thread)

Hotel is on the right

Sticklebarn pub next to the hotel (hotel is out of shot to the right)

Sitting area and walkers bar outside the Dungeon Ghyll

Hotel Garden. We will be out here if the weathers good!

Some shots of the Langdales , starting with the famous Langdale Pikes.
This area of the Lakes is just beautiful.

This looking down on Little Langdale, next door to Great Langdale which is the next valley to the left. Would you believe, there's a road that comes up from the valley almost to this height (its just out of sight at the next ridge down).

Great Langdale. Hotel is nestling in the trees, below the waterfall from Stickle tarn. Campsite is about 0.5 mile to the left

Looking down Great Langdale. Hotel , to the right behind the trees

Extract from hotel guide...

A comfortable haven for lovers of the great outdoors

This traditional stone Lakeland house is situated at the head of one of the grandest valleys in England. From the minute you step over the threshold you can tell that this is a family run hotel. Today Rebecca Manley the daughter of the founder continues the New Dungeon Ghyll tradition of providing a friendly and homely environment. The hotel attracts many outdoor enthusiasts and the relaxed comfortable setting is a perfect place to return to after a day out in the elements. Come straight off the hill into the Walkers Bar which serves local ales such as Wainwright and Lancaster Bomber. The bar is frequented by many locals, so there's always lots of local information on offer. Alternatively, enjoy some tea and delicious home baking by the open fire in the lounge. The prettily decorated bedrooms have a cosy country feel to them and have the most magnificent views of Langdale Pikes and Stickle Beck. Dinner, served in the attractive dining room, is essentially a traditional English affair with some continental influences. The surrounding hills cater for all levels of walkers. There's also riding and golfing as well as boating and water skiing on nearby Windermere - all in all a perfect Lakeland experience.

:028: Looks fantastic Rocket, but Anne asked me 'where are all the shops?'  :492:
Sometimes I like to squat down, put my arms around my legs and lean forward but that's just how I roll.
