Anyone know if ECU controls the LCD output?
« on: April 12, 2012, 05:32:37 PM »
I Have a new 800XC which does not have the ABS disable page (yes, I followed the owners manual exactly!).  The bike was the dealer demo and I had them remove the Arrow exhaust and remap it before I picked it up.  The only other tinkering was me disconnecting the battery to install a GPS cable.  Any ideas from people smarter than me?

I had the same problem, providing they have installed the correct tune, apparently they can plug it in and there is a sub-menu on their system to enable the ABS switch off  feature.

If you've followed the handbook and can't find the option to turn off the ABS then I'd go to the dealer and get them to demonstrate. I'd also get them to prove they have uploaded an ABS tune. The ECU mapping is specific for ABS OR. Non ABS.

My XC had the same problem.   After the dealer fiddled with it, and told me they could not fix it and had to talk to headquarters, something they did made the bike (an XC) think it had TPMS which faulted since it could not read the non-existent sensors.   This was a year ago.   Triumph had told them to swap instrument clusters with another bike to test.   Not sure of the outcome, but when they swapped my old one back in, it was fine.   I would assume that by now they had fixed this issue and have a good procedure.   Aparently the instrument cluster thought I had a roadie, maybe, or whatever.   Dealer should be able to fix it.

Sounds like they have loaded the non-ABS map. Easy to fix in 10 minutes.

The problem doesn't have anything to do with which map is loaded.

Check my post in this thread for an in-depth explanation:

Venom Yellow Tiger 800. High front mudguard, fog lights, hand guards, heated grips, center stand (not delivered yet), panniers, arrow exhaust.

But I wasn't sure if you had to have the right map installed. Apparently even ABS roadies can have this facility switched on if you want it.

I accidentally loaded a non-ABS map on my ABS roadie and I can confirm that I still had the menu allowing me to switch ABS off. I didn't ride it so I can't say if the ABS worked or not.
