I reckon whoever designed this systme reckons he / she / it (remember it was designed by burocrats  :164:) worked out they will not be around in 50 years time when his / hers / its successor wil have to invent a new registration method.

the year of the plates issue eg 09 runs from march to end august adding 50 to that runs from September to end Feb

so
a 56 plate was issued on a vehicle first registered between 1st Sept 2006 and end Feb 2007, vehicles registered int he 6 months after that date would have an 07 plate being issued in 2007, vehicles registered in the 6 months prior to that woudl have an 06 plate

so bikes registered now will be on a 60 plate, bikes registered from March to End august will be on 11 plates....

..at least thats what wikipedia claims (but in this instance they may even be right)

I went on the DVLA site to see if I could buy this:

BO 11 OCK

But it is "Unavailable"

So I tried

BA 11 OON

And that is reserved for auction.

So bu**er them. I'll take what I get.

The drive to make money has taken all the fun out of the vanity plate market.
I'm sure the DVLA has removed all the "interesting" plates for auction and all the possibly double meaning ones.

Did you know you cannot get any plate with ASS or SEX in the system?
