2013 Ducati Hyperstrada vs. Tiger 800
« on: December 07, 2012, 08:01:09 AM »
Interested to learn that a friend of mine who was looking at buying a Tiger 800, after riding mine, dropped into Ducati dealer and was told this new bike was specifically designed to go after sales of T800:

http://www.ducatistore.co.uk/hyperstrada.shtml

Released in March 2013 so no reviews yet.

Anyone have experience of Ducati bikes as well as Triumph ?

good lets hope it keeps Triumph, along with all the other manufacturers on their toes, and not become complacent and treat the customer with disdain or worse still contempt

I sort like the new bike. But I'm sure like all Ducati's it's going to be expensive.

I agree - and maintenance will be very expensive, too.

Yeah, that headlight on the Duke is absolutely terrible...

I feel like Ducatis are like Harleys, you mostly pay for the name...that being said, I've never ridden a Duke, and I've only ridden an 883 sportster around the block.   Like the Harley (mostly the sound), but the 883 I feel is a bit small and underpowered for how heavy it is...

Hopefully, though, the Hyperstrada is nice to ride, cause it sure is nothing to look at...also, the factory Panniers look pretty small, don't think it will take  a lot of sales from the Tigger, even the roadie, as it seems more like a tall sport bike and less like an adventure bike...

I also think the Ducati front end looks to much like a scooter...

I saw it at the NEC and quite like it. Its comfy to sit on, but not as good as the Triumph. The engine gives more bhp which may attract buyers, but the price will be a lot more, as will servicing.
Time will tell re sales etc

http://www.ducati.co.uk/bikes/hypermotard/hyperstrada/index.do cites a service interval of 18,500 miles
